MSGERC Working Groups

New MSGERC Working Groups were initiated in early 2025 by the organization’s current president, Dr. Dimitrios Kontoyiannis. Whereas previous MSGERC workgroups had primarily been fungal-centric, these new groups expand into thematically different and nuanced topics to benefit the scholarly exchange of the organization.

Aims for these Working Groups are multi-fold, with specific objectives set by the group’s co-chairs and mentors. The expectation is that they will compete for grants in clinical/translational research in mycology, spearhead unique educational programs, inform future MSGERC Biennial Meeting programs, and galvanize discussion that will yield white papers and other outputs. In addition, these Working Groups are designed to provide leadership opportunities for young faculty, a fundamental priority of MSGERC.

Participation in these Working Groups currently requires membership in MSGERC.
